Blessington Greenway

Estimated time: 1.5 hrs

Close to our spa hotel in Wicklow, you’ll find the beautiful town of Blessington, so named for the stunning lakes. The Blessington Greenway walk links the historic town of Blessington with the Palladian mansion at Russborough House. This trail starts at the town centre and leads south along the shore of these stunning lakes, through forest and woodlands until it reaches Russborough House, a great place to stop for tea. Starting at the Avon Activity Centre in town, the trail takes you way along the shores, crosses an ancient medieval Ringfort, across a busy road and back to the forest. It’s a great opportunity to explore the gardens and the house as well as the local natural beauty of the area. This easy walk should take around 90 minutes for the loop.

Seefin Passage Tomb

Estimated time: 2.5hrs

If you want to combine your hike with a fascinating and educational tour, a walk to Seefin Passage tomb is a great option. Passage tombs are some of the most fascinating feats of engineering and heritage in Ireland and pictures don’t do them justice. This grave has probably been open for a long time, as an Early Christian equal-armed cross can be seen on one of the roofing stones. Seefin is a 30-minute drive from our hotel in Wicklow and is a 2.5-hour strenuous hike once you get there. The unmarked route takes you up trails to the site of Seefin Passage Tomb which was built about 5,000 years ago.

The route starts at the Forest entrance at Kippure Bridge and we recommend having a good sense of direction to get there and back as it is fully unmarked.

Glendalough – White Route

Estimated time: 3.5hrs

Glendalough is an area of wild natural beauty, heritage and some of the most stunning scenery in all of Ireland. We’re lucky to have such a notorious hiking spot so close to our Wicklow hotel. There are dozens of routes you could take from the starting point in Glendalough, but the white walking route is one of the most popular. The Spinc Ridge overlooks the spectacular Glendalough Valley. A tough climb is rewarded with breathtaking views not just of the Valley but as you climb high the view over the Wicklow Uplands opens out around you. Enjoy sights like a waterfall, a blanket bog and a rocky trail to the deserted Miners Village along the way. It’s a challenging route but one that is well rewarded.

The Wicklow Way

Estimated time: up to 7 days with overnight breaks.

If you are looking for a real challenge, the Wicklow Way might be the best option for you. The Wicklow Way is the oldest and the most scenic long-distance linear walk in Ireland crossing the Wicklow Mountains from North to South. This strenuous hike is around 130km long and crosses the Wicklow Mountains from Marley Park in Dublin to Clonegal in County Carlow. The Wicklow Way is one of the most popular walks in Ireland and is usually split into 6 or 7 sections some of which pass close to Tulfarris Hotel. You can spend between one and seven days exploring these stunning natural surroundings being rewarded by sights such as Discover some amazing sceneries including Powerscourt Waterfall, Lough Tay (the Guinness Lake) and Glendalough.
