Tulfarris Hotel – Blog on Tulfarris
Welcome at

To ensure total relaxation we like to recommend a number of additional local activities to your guests when they are visiting Tulfarris Hotel Co Wicklow Spa.

The Annex Treatment Rooms at Tulfarris are the perfect way to unwind and the experienced team includes experts in Swedish massage, or perhaps choose to de-stress with aromatic facials.  If you feel like pampering yourself a whole host of beauty treatments are available.

Blessington Lakes

Ireland and golf go hand in hand and there is nothing like a round followed by a sports massage to relax tired muscles.  Our championship course was designed by Ireland’s most renowned golf architect Patrick J. Merrigan.  Set across three peninsulas of the Blessington Lakes the course makes use of the natural topography to create some inventive hazards and natural elements are blended harmoniously to create a tranquil setting.

Non-golfers can also appreciate the stunning setting with a stroll around the Blessington Lakes.  We have a number of marked trails through the estate and beyond, varying in length from 3km to 12km.  As some of the trails include the course they can only be walked during summer twilight hours – this can be the best time to spot wildlife.  The lakes are an important stopover for winter migrants with flocks of grey geese regularly stopping by.  Walks and trail maps are available from reception.

For those unavoidable rainy days the games room is equipped to keep everyone entertained.  Choose from air hockey, table tennis, football or pool.  Or for something a little more relaxing we’ve a fantastic selection of board games for some real family fun!

To top off the evening why not try Ballymore Inn for a gourmet dining experience just outside Blessington restaurant quality food?  The fantastic food draws the regulars back time and time again.  Owned by the O’Sullivan family it is only 10 minutes drive from the hotel.  Whether seated in the Cafe or Back bar both have vibrant atmosphere and delicious food.  My personal recommendation for dinner is the rack of Slaney Lamb or char-grilled steak – all the beef is sourced from top local farmers.

Back at our Wicklow Hotel round off your evening with a drink in the Elk Bar; most weekends we have a live band which creates wonderful atmosphere and the perfect end to a relaxing break.

Blessington Lakes

Wicklow is a wonderful destination whether for a short break or base to explore the Dublin and the local counties.  To help you plan your perfect time with us we created this Wicklow hotel blog to keep you up to date on all that’s happening in Wicklow and nearby Dublin.

We are delighted to welcome Annex Treatment Rooms to Tulfarris.  The perfect complement to our amenities, Annex Treatment Rooms has some of the most pampering options of all spa hotels in Wicklow.  Unwind with a relaxing Swedish massage, aromatic facial or selection of manicure and pedicure treatments.

Our very own Tulfarris Golf Course attracts visitors from around the globe.  Designed by the international golf architect, Patrick J. Merrigan, the design utilises the natural landscape whenever possible to create a challenging 18-hole course.  Set against the stunning backdrop of the Wicklow Mountains and over three peninsulas of Blessington Lakes it is widely regarded as one of the very finest championship courses in Ireland.

Wicklow farms produce fantastic fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy.  With such amazing ingredients to work with the local chefs create mouth watering seasonal dishes.  Our Blessington restaurant guide will give you inspiration and our insider recommendations on where to enjoy lunch or dinner in the area.

The hotel features purpose built facilities to host meetings and events for up to 320 people.  If you are planning on hosting a business conference in Dublin but don’t know where to start we will be bringing you some of our hints and suggestions to help you plan the perfect event.

With the stunning scenery all around you won’t want to spend all your time indoors (no matter how attractive an afternoon of pampering treatments sounds).  With a selection of Wicklow Walking routes from our backdoor you’ll be able to enjoy the lakeside wildlife and changing countryside up into the mountains for as far (or not) as you like.  My personal favourite has to be a dusk walk across the golf course and watching the sun setting over the lakes.

The Dublin horse races from Leopardstown to Punchestown create an unrivalled buzz around the city.  Blessington is only a few kilometres from both and our association to the races includes sponsoring our very own race – the Pat Taaffee Steeplechase at Punchestown!

We look forward to bringing you all the news from the hotel and local area so don’t forget to subscribe to our RSS feeds for the next blog post so not as to miss out on our amazing Wicklow hotel deals.
